Jun Seba — recording under the moniker, Nujabes — was a Japanese hip-hop producer who was most active in the mid 2000s. I only recently got into his stuff after a friend turned me on to him a year or so ago. It’s really hard to describe his work – it’s definitely a bit jazzy and always melodic, but it’s also very oddly unique — I suggest you skip those formalities and just give it a spin.
Sadly, in 2010, Seba passed away after a car accident in Tokyo, Japan. He was only 36-years-old at the time, so now we are just left to ponder the amazing music that could have — and most certainly would have — been created by Seba.
