Bob Mould has been one of the most prolific and respected figures in the punk, hardcore and indie-rock scenes since forever at this point. In fact, this year we celebrate the 35th anniversary of Hüsker Dü starting off on their transformative and incredibly influential path.
From his early days experimenting with hardcore and punk and the evolution of Hüsker Dü, to his stint with the more indie-rock tinged outfit, Sugar — which, according to Mould when he was on Marc Maron’s podcast WTF, was a band created essentially by happenstance — and all throughout his solo career, Mould has been hard to peg down or be defined by a particular genre.
To say the least, the man has an eclectic palate when it comes to music and even life in general — he even wrote professional wrestling scripts (is that what they’re called?) for the WCW!
This is the first single off of his new album, Beauty & Ruin, which is out now on Merge Records.
