North Korea, as a nation and as a military power, has been in shambles for decades. This is a government that directs all of its wealth to the ruling class while the people and its military literally starve. Famines have been common, leaving millions dead. Though the country is the most isolated and closed in the world, reports have come out in recent months about soldiers starving, even in some instances resorting to cannibalism. North Koreans, though having mandatory military service periods, stay with the military because of the allotted food rations. This has proven to be far from enough.
