Is Man, an animated short film depicting the possible future that we are doing to Earth?
MAN, an animated short film by freelance London based artist Steve Cutts, created this hand drawn animation of our destructive relationship with the natural world. Watching this film, reminded me of the computer animated movie Wall-E (2008), created by Pixar Animation Studios. If you have never seen Wall-E, it’s like a futuristic version of Short Circuit in a way.
As you watch the film, it starts off 500,000 years ago. And little by little, you start to see a variety of things done to Mother Earth. From snake skin boots to modifications to chickens; cars and traffic, pollution, and landfills with tons of washing machines.
The film MAN does create quite a vivid picture of what could happen. And it might make you think about that smartphone in your hand, tablets and other devices. Or household appliances such as air conditioners or dyers–but are these product inventions, innovations and technologies really helping or hurting us in the future?
Either way, MAN, is an animated short that is a uniquely and nicely creative piece. While it does have a strong message behind it, it’s something to watch.
