Nothing is easy.
Lungfish is one of those bands that you either love, hate or just simply have no idea what to even think about them. I’ve been a fan for well beyond a decade at this point, and as much as I do love them, I still have no idea what’s happening sometimes.
Daniel Higgs is nothing short of a poet, while the understated simplicity of their music serves so fittingly and accentuates his lyrical prowess. Confusing to some, fodder for quasi-intellectuals, and perhaps an acquired taste to others, Lungfish snuggles quite well within my everyday playlist of more approachable bands. I guess “approachable” is a relative term, but I think you guys get what I’m saying.
This live show from Maryland, back in 1998, profiles Daniel’s madcap-yet-genius antics and showcases one of the most overlooked bands of all-time.
Edit: Also, I plopped a few links below for those who aren’t yet familiar with Lungfish, or those who don’t dig live sets.
Either way, enjoy, and have a great Labor Day!
