Most of us here in the U.S. associate ramen with broke college kids and sometimes as a cheap, quick lunch once in a while. But it’s serious business in Japan, and the citizens themselves even voted the instant version as their country’s greatest invention of the 20th century. Seriously.
Forget state-of-the-art gadgetry, the Japanese believe their best invention of the 20th century was instant noodles.
And their second best idea – ahead of personal stereos, computer games and impossibly small cameras – was karaoke.
I have never actually had authentic ramen before, and this video is making me realize just what I have been missing out on for all of these years. All that I have ever had is the Nissin stuff with what I call “The Heart Attack Pack,” because it’s basically a concoction of the worst crap a human can consume — it is delicious though…
Besides taunting my already growling stomach with tasty Japanese goodness, this video is also an interesting documentary, so give it a spin and learn the history behind Japan’s most coveted noodle.
