Many of us don’t like to eat spoiled food, but there are some foods we do enjoy consuming. Foods such as coffee, cheese, beer, chocolate and bread are enjoyable thanks to the tiny bacteria and fungi that results in pleasing textures and smells.
Another example is meat. If bad bacteria get to it first, the smell is horrible and can make us sick. If we add lots of salt, we can ensure that the good bacteria get to it first. Months later, that meat becomes salami instead of a batch of really bad meat.
