As part of National Distracted Driving Awareness Month, this PSA is for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and is directed at teens that are texting and driving. This is a national campaign that will run between April 10 to April 15, 2014 and a government site, Distraction.gov to bring awareness and safer driving.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), it estimated that in 2012 “3,328 people were killed and an estimated 421,000 were injured in distraction-related crashes.”
Additionally, Distraction.gov states that 71% of teens and young people say they have composed/sent SMS messages while driving. And 78% of teens and young adults say they have read an SMS message while driving.
This graphic PSA aims to show teens the reality of what could happen if you’re not paying attention to the road. Although its focus is on teens, the message can also apply to adults as well. The campaign’s slogan is “U Drive. U Text. U Pay.” with a social media campaign of #justdrive.
Remember when you text and drive, you are not only risking your life, but also the lives of others in your vehicle.
