For those of you who are unfamiliar, the Sutters are one of the most prolific families in all of hockey history — in all of sports history, really. Two generations and over 10 members of the Sutter clan have played professional hockey so far, with a few even going on to be superstars and coaches in the sport.
This short video doesn’t deal with hockey as much as it does the family unit, and more specifically, Darryl Sutter dealing with his son who was born with Down syndrome. At that time, Sutter was coaching a rather successful Chicago Blackhawks club — having just taken them to the Western Conference Finals — but chose to step down after the 1994-95 season to help take care of his newborn son, Chris.
It’s a really sweet story of family love and kinship, so even if you’re not a hockey fan it’s still a great watch.
