So I stumbled across a really nice thread on Reddit yesterday. This guy just pours his heart out explaining how, at the not-so-tender age of 41, he has still never had a friend, never had a date, never been loved or even told he was simply liked.
Pretty awful for almost any human being, but this guy seems like an all right dude. Well, as much as a Reddit post can convey someone is an “all right dude” anyway.
The responses are just amazing and heartwarming. Not only did he get hundreds (by now maybe thousands) of friend requests from the Reddit community, but several people took their time and responded to his entire post — part by part — with great advice.
Could it be some “woe is me” type ploy to gain popularity on Reddit? It’s possible. But I highly doubt it. He took too much time to craft this and you can just hear the desperation he is feeling through his writing.
For those of you unfamiliar with Reddit, definitely check it out. I have seen the kindness and humanity of strangers shine on people having a bad time in life and it seems to genuinely help them out. I imagine it helps all parties involved, because as we all know, it makes one feel proud to help others in need. And more specifically, to help complete strangers in need.
Also, as a heads up, Reddit does have its share of assholes. It’s still the internet after-all. And we all know they are unavoidable on the almighty intratubes.
Plus there are cats. LOTS OF CATS! 🙂
It is quite lengthy, but the post and its subsequent responses/comments are well worth the read. So grab the link here and then go and start getting your daily dose of instant-internet-karma!
