Many of us love sleep and feeling refreshed in the morning. And there are a few that hack sleep by getting a total of four hours in 15 minute intervals throughout the day. For some, they believe it’s a habit that can be broken.
In the 1930s, a gentleman named “Z” approached researchers to help him break his sleeping habit. He believed that if he stayed awake more than a week, he would break the sleeping habit and never require it again.
The researchers tested this out by giving “Z” a typewriter to type for 30 minutes each day and monitoring his progress. By day four, he was irritable and couldn’t focus.
The video below by BrainCraft covers more detail and discusses other sleep studies that were done and the effects on our body and brain.
