There’s nothing like getting tons of great PR from social media, but sometimes it can backfire. A recent example is the singer Robin Thicke who did a Twitter Q&A using the hashtag, #AskThicke, which was hijacked by his critics.
Twitter bashtagging is also something that can happen, which is a lesson learned. In 2012 McDonald’s started a Twitter, #McDStories, for people to tell heart warming stories about the Happy Meal. Instead of loving stories about their brand, many people bashed the golden arches with their horror stories of the fast food chain.
