I’ve featured Paco Pomet before and his En El Lago – At The Lake here on SOAO. He’s definitely one of the most interesting artists I have come across in a long time. In all honesty, I can’t remember how I stumbled upon his stuff. I don’t recall anyone in particular telling me about him, so it must have been by chance while just browsing the internet. In any event, I find myself going back to his site every now and again, and always find something new and interesting. Today, I decided to go backwards a bit and checked out some of his older paintings.
For those who don’t know, Paco Pomet is from Granada, Spain, not the country Grenada, as other sites have reported. That’s somewhat of an important piece of information because of the differences in culture, geography, etc.
It seems his more popular and recent works are painting surreal — sometimes bordering on absurd — renditions of old archival photographs, with his medium of choice being oil. These ten paintings aren’t really in that vein, but are still amazing in their own right.
Catch the rest of the paintings after the plunge.
